The School

The SchoolThe school was built in 1927 as a Salvation Army centre. It served in many different capacities until 1989, when renovations began. The original character has been maintained and Mark Bouckoms won a heritage award for his preservation work. The School opened in 1990 and since then has been a valued facility for the health and wellbeing of the community.

The School is situated in the picturesque seaside community of Sumner, five minutes walk from the ocean and twenty minutes drive from the centre of Christchurch. The Sumner area offers the ideal environment for visitors to practise, relax and enjoy the surrounding area with its many outdoor activities. There are numerous options available for accommodation, including backpackers, homestay and motel facilities.
